Macintosh Downloading Instructions
If you want to download the Sun Java Developers Kit version 1.0.2,
and install it on your machine, read below.
The JDK includes the appletviewer,
which can be found in the Applets directory.
Please read carefully the instructions and afterwards
proceed with the installation.
Click here to download the JDK 1.0.2.
You can download the package below, and run the applets either
with the appletviewer installed above, or with Netscape, or Internet Explorer:
You have more options to choose from,
depending on your Netscape browser setups. Please try either one
of the following:
- package.sit,
compressed with Stuffit.
Note: After clicking the link above, if you get a
warning message from Netscape, click Pick app button
and select either the Netscape or the
Stuffit Expander application. Stuffit Expander is
usually found in the Netscape folder, inside
the Stuffit Expander 4.0.2 folder.
If you don't get a warning message and your browser starts
displaying funny characters, you may press the Stop
button, and choose another downloading option.
- package.sit.bin,
a binary compressed form of Stuffit.
Note: After clicking the link above, if you get a
warning message from Netscape, click Pick app button
and select either the Netscape or the
Stuffit Expander application. Stuffit Expander is
usually found in the Netscape folder, inside
the Stuffit Expander 4.0.2 folder.
- package.sit.hqx,
a BinHex compressed form.
Note: After clicking the link above, if you get a
warning message from Netscape, click Pick app button
and select either the Netscape or the
Stuffit Expander application. Stuffit Expander is
usually found in the Netscape folder, inside
the Stuffit Expander 4.0.2 folder.
If you don't get a warning message and your browser starts
displaying funny characters, you may press the Stop
button, and choose another downloading option.
After completing step 2, you should have on your Desktop a folder
called package. Inside you will find three files:
chaos-game.html, fractalina.html, franimate.html,
and a folder called classes.
Now locate your appletviewer program (installed
in the first step), and drag the desired html file
(corresponding to the applet you want to play with)
into the appletviewer.
Have fun!
Bugs: On some PowerMacs, the applets above may not display
all the colors, or may change the background color of the applet,
when running in the appletviewer. This will be fixed soon, when a new
distribution of JDK will be available for Macintosh computers.
