The Class' emphasis will be on developing ANALYTICAL SKILLS of students. The course OUTLINE is below. Reading and understanding of the text in the respective section goes each time WITHOUT SAYING as part of the HW. HW problems are assigned daily, you are encouraged to turn them in (though you are not getting formal credit for doing so). Test problems are similar to those from the text (or to the examples presented by the Instructor). The students are expected to learn (with an ability to apply to solve test problems) different algebraic and trigonometric notions as well as to get a better training in logical thinking. The emphasis is on DOING mathematics rather than duplicating mathematics through extensive drill.

Grading Policy:

Attendance is 1 units worth, one quiz is 1 unit, two TESTS (Thu, Oct 19 and Tue, Nov 21) are 2 units each, the FINAL (12/19, 9am - 11am) is cumulative, it is 4 units worth.

The lowest from these ten grades will be dropped. The average of the remaining nine will determine the grade for the class.

The current text is Calculus by J.Stewart, the 3d edition. See the course outline at the bottom of the file.
