Greetings,

We will end up collecting roughly 1000 homework sets by the end of the semester. Given the volume of paper, it is important that you follow the directions on the homework cover sheet exactly. Tom cannot accept any paper that does not follow those directions.

In Tom's message regarding the homework, he mentioned that we expect you to submit ALL of the assignments that are designated for grading. However, given the length of the semester and the number of assignments involved, we realize that something important may come up at some point. You might get sick. You might have four exams all on the same day. Your dog might eat your homework. In all cases, WE DO NOT ACCEPT LATE HOMEWORK.

To handle these situations, we have a no-questions-asked policy where you will be excused from one missed homework assignment as long as you have a good reason. In this case, you do NOT need to provide an explanation of why your paper is missing to either Tom or me.

We suggest that you do not abuse this policy. In particular, we will not excuse anyone from two missed assignments no matter what the reason is. For example, if you miss one assignment early in the semester for any reason, and then later in the semester you get sick or have to go home for a family emergency, you will receive a grade of 0/10 for one of the those two assignments.
