Professor Emma Previato has been named Distinguished
Teacher of the Year by the Northeastern Section
of the Mathematical Association of America. She will
receive the award officially at the June section meeting.
Professor Previato was recognized for her dedication to
her students, both inside and outside of the classroom,
and for the exceptional range of her initiatives and
activities, which include the BU chapter of the MAA,
the BU Putnam team, the BU Masterclasses, the journal
"Inclusions," and the annual symposium linking mathematics
and the humanities. She is the fourth department member to
receive this honor in the past ten years; Professors Blanchard,
Devaney, and Wayne have also received the award.
