Locating a Terminal to Use

There are several types of machines that you can use in the Math Department:

  • Workstations:
    • Sun X terminals - For logging into our main server math.bu.edu, located in various offices
    • NCD X terminals - For logging into our main server math.bu.edu, located in various offices
    • Sun Sparc 2 workstations - Also located in various offices.
    • Linux Workstations - Dual PII-450 processors, 768M RAM, located in the graphics lab, room 237.
    • Sun Ultra 60 Workstation - Dual UltraSparc processors, 1G RAM, also located in room 237.
  • Servers:
    • math.bu.edu - Sun Enterprise 250 with dual UltraSparc processors and 768M RAM
    • severi.bu.edu - Sun HPC 450 with dual UltraSparc processors and 2G RAM
Each faculty member and graduate student has a terminal and/or workstation in his or her office. The host math is also publicly accessible from terminals available in the Information Technology terminal clusters located in the basement of 111 Cummington Street, the third floor of Mugar Library, and other locations around campus.
