MA 226: LAB 3

Cooperative and Competitive Species

This lab is due Thursday, November 1, 2001 at 7 PM. Turn it in after class or to the TF in the Mac Lab. You may use any technology that you have available: Differential Systems, Mathematica, Matlab, programmable calculator, etc. Interactive Differential Equations is not suitable for this lab. You will be graded on exactly what is asked for in the instructions below. You should not turn in any extraneous data, graphs, paragraphs, etc. You should submit only what is called for, and in the order the questions are asked. It is perfectly acceptable to hand in hand-drawn figures, in case the queues at the printers become too long. Remember that you will be graded on your use of English, including spelling, punctuation, logic, as well as the mathematics.

IMPORTANT: The work you submit should be your own and nobody else's. Any exceptions to this will be dealt with harshly.

Lab. Do all parts of Lab 2.2, page 209 in the book. You will need to use one of the four pairs of equations. You should use pair 1 if the last nonzero digit in your student ID is 1, 5, or 9. Use pair 2 if the last nonzero digit is 2 or 6. Use pair 3 if the last nonzero digit is 3 or 7. And use pair 4 if the last nonzero digit is 4 or 8. For example, if your student ID is U23-45-6789, then use pair 1, but if your ID is U00-20-3000, then use pair 3.

Important: You must answer each of the questions in the book in order. Also, make sure you list your student ID on the top of your lab reort.
