Math Tutoring: Free tutoring is available in the Math. Department in Room 144, most times between 10:00am and 4:00pm, Monday through Thursday and on Friday mornings. If it happens that there is no tutor in the room when you arrive there, see the secretary in the Math. Dept. Office to find out when the next tutor will be available.

Examinations: There will two, in-class, midterm exams, on Monday, October 4 and Friday November 19. There will also be three quizzes in the recitation sections the weeks of September 20, October 18 and November 1. The comprehensive final exam will be on Thursday, December 16.

Do not make plans to leave campus before the final exam!

Text Book: Calculus, Concepts and Contexts. 4th ed., by J. Stewart, Chapters 9-13.

Discussion Sections: There are five discussion sections for this course; You must be enrolled in one of these, and attend the discussion hour every week. In particular, all quizzes will be given during this period.

Grading: In addition to the examinations above, I will assign homework in each lecture. You are encouraged to work together with your classmates on the homework problems. I will occasionally collect homework in the recitation sections - when I do you will be responsible for turning in all the homework assigned the previous week. The three quizzes will also be given in the recitation sections. I will drop the lowest of your three quiz grades when computing you final grade. No make-up quizzes will be given - if you miss one of the quizzes for some reason that grade will be the one that is dropped. Your final grade will be determined by the following procedure:
Homework and Class participation: 10 % Quizzes (average of two best): 22 % Each Midterm: 18 % Final Exam: 32 %
As a reminder, while you are encouraged to work together on the homework, you are to rely only on your own ideas and knowledge on the quizzes and exams. Use of another individual's work, however it is communicated, is not permitted. Your work in this course is governed by BU's Academic Conduct Code
(http://www.cs.bu.edu/ugradprogram/conduct.html) which you are expected to be familiar with and abide by. In particular, with the exception of working together on the homework assignments as explained above, all work you submit in this course must be you own, original work. Calculators: You are allowed to use calculators on the homework, quizzes, and exams for this course.
