EXAM 3 IS ON THURSDAY, DECEMBER 10, 8 - 9:30 AM , IN OUR CLASSROOM

ATTENDANCE IS REQUIRED.

In particular oversleeping is NOT an acceptable excuse. Anyone missing the exam for an unacceptable excuse will receive a zero on the exam.

The exam will be on Sections 8.4 (Alternating Series Estimation) , 8.5 - 8.9.

You will be allowed the use of a 3" by 5" index card or EQUAL SIZE piece of paper (both sides) for any formulas you may have trouble remembering. You will also be allowed to use a calculator, although be aware that you may be expected to explain how some answers are obtained without the use of a calculator.

There is a sample exam on my webpage. However this is just to give you an idea of the number and type of questions that can be asked on an exam. The questions on our exam will NOT be identical to those questions, so it would be a mistake to only study those questions. The best way to study is to make sure you have done all the homework problems and that you thoroughly understand the ideas and concepts behind these problems. If you wish to use the sample exam for studying purposes I recommend first trying to do those problems on your own. Then check your answers under brief answers. If one or more answers are incorrect try to figure out on your own where you went wrong. If you still can't figure out where you went wrong then you can look under complete answers. This may help you to realize what topics you should review further.

NOTE ON QUESTIONS ON SAMPLE EXAMS:

  • Exam 2: Question 3 is on material that WILL be included on our Exam 3.
  • Exam 3: Questions 1 - 5 are on material that will be included on our Exam 3. Question 6 is on material that we did NOT cover, hence can be ignored.

I will be happy to answer any further questions during my office hours are at Math Help.
