Our Final Exam is on TUESDAY, MAY 6, 9 - 11 AM in CAS 237 (our classroom).

The final will emphasize the material we have covered since Exam 2, namely Sections 5.1 - 5.3, 6.1 - 6.5 and 6.7. However since it is a final, you can also expect questions on some of the most important concepts of Linear Algebra we have learned, such as:

  • Linear Dependence and Independence
  • Bases and Dimension of Vector Spaces
  • Linear Transformations, One-One, Onto, and Invertibility.
  • Matrix of Linear Transformation, Rank of a Matrix
  • Inverses of Matrices, Change of Coordinate Matrices
  • Important Properties About Determinants of a Matrix

All of the above concepts are used in Chapters 5 and 6, so doing the homework from these chapters should have also been review of some of the above topics. Hence it should not be necessary to go back and study the entire semester's worth of material. Reviewing the main definitions and theorems (if they are not already familiar to you) and being sure you understand them would be a good idea. Questions on the exam will be similar to homework problems, so if you have been doing the homework and understanding it you should be adequately prepared.
