FALL MOUNTAIN HIKE

    MT. MONADNOCK in N.H.

DATE: CHANGED TO SUNDAY, OCTOBER 4

This is a FANTASTIC hike that is do-able by almost everyone. It is VERY SCENIC with views of Fall Foliage, numerous lakes, and even views back to Boston on a clear day. More people have hiked up Mt. Monadnock than any other mountain in the world (Yes, that is correct!) - with good reason. It is a not to be missed trip while you are in the New England area.

The trip leaves at 8:00 AM from West Campus. (This is early, but you can sleep on the bus there). You should be on Harry Agannis way (next to the Agannis Arena no later than 7:50 AM). The trip there takes 1 1/2 - 2 hours. We begin hiking by 10:00 AM and have lunch at the top of the mountain. We try to leave the park by 4 PM and return to West Campus by 6 PM. The bus can show movies so we usually watch movies (you can bring your favorites) on the way back. Of course some choose to sleep or study as well. We are asking for a sign-up fee of $5.00 to reserve your place and to cover admission to the park.

Sign up is at the Claflin Hall office, Monday - Friday, 9 AM - 5 PM. You will need your $5. deposit and your BU ID to sign up. If you are not near West Campus you can also give your $5. and info to me and I will put you on the list. You can get in touch with me by email at dmm@math.bu.edu if you want to sign up for the event but you will not be signed up until I receive your deposit (you can give to me at my office hours T 1:00 - 2:30 PM , TR 2:30 - 4:00 PM at MCS 249, 111 Cummington St. or at my Math Help hours, T 7:30 - 10:30 PM in Study Lounge B12, Claflin Hall Basement.)

    OPEN TO ALL BU STUDENTS.

LIMIT OF 44 STUDENTS, SO SIGN UP EARLY TO RESERVE YOUR PLACE.

Click here for Instructions for Hike

You can also pick up a copy of Instructions for Hike when you sign up.

Seats are reserved on a first come, first served basis. After the limit of 44 students is reached you will be put on a waiting list. So it is a good idea to sign up early. However due to the early departure time there will usually be a few students who don't show up on time. Then students who are on the waiting list and who are there at 8 AM and have their $5 will be allowed to go on the trip in the order their names are on the waiting list. There are USUALLY enough empty seats on the bus to accomodate anyone who wants to go, however we can't guarantee it, so it is best to reserve in advance.

If you have any other questions please email me at dmm@math.bu.edu.
