Grades will be calculted as follows: Attendance = 1 unit, quiz is 1, tests = 2 units each, the Final is 4. One (the worst) unit is dropped.

Example 1: Att=40, quiz = 32, test 1 =26, test 2 =24, Final=32. 40 plus 32 plus 52 plus 24 plus 128 is 276; divided by 9 is 30.7, approximately (which means B).

Example 2: Att=26, quiz 28, tests 31 and 30, Final=29. 28 plus 62 plus 60 plus 116 is 266; divided by 9 is 29.6, means B.

Example 3: some of you ask "what should I get on the Final in order to reach B+?"

Assuming that your test 2 is your worst, here is the equation: (att, plus 2*(test one), plus one times test 2, score 4*x) divided by 9 equals 32. Solve it for x, it is always a linear equation. 32 is taken as the left endpoint of the B+ interval. This explains other cases, too. For A-, enter 35.5 in the right side, etc.

To get the letter grade, I will be using the following Scale:

C-: [1.5,1.8], C: [1.9,2.1], C+: [2.2,2.45], B-: [2.55,2.8], B: [2.9,3.1], B+: [3.2,3.45], A-: [3.55,3.75], A: [3.8,4].

Cases which are not determined by that scale, I will decide myself about (on a case-by-case basis).

Attendance grade is out of 40 (each lecture meeting missed, starting with the 2nd miss, is 2 off). The attendance grade will be posted on May 1.
