This course is a seminar whose purpose is to expose the participants to various problems at the research level.

We shall go over recent preprints and new papers that appeared in the literature, present them and discuss them in a critical manner. When outside speakers are invited to present their own research, they are urged to focus on the big picture. The atmosphere is informal and conducive to discussion. In this way, new problems become apparent and these in turn lead to collaboration and further research. This seminar has now become a regular feature of Boston University and is also attended by mathematicians, scientists, engineers, postdoctoral fellows and students in the greater Boston area.
