all students must take the
final as scheduled.
Please bring your BU ids and a pen or pencil. You
will not be able to refer to any books or other papers. You
may use a calculator.

the homework assignments for
weeks 3 and 4 for more details.)
If you have any questions about a particular topic, take a look at the
homework assignments. Any material listed in the "Reading"
columns may appear on the final.
Old Exams:
Problem #10 on the May 9,
2001 final involves material that
we did not cover this semester.
Do not expect our final this semester to involve the same types of
questions as
the old finals. Your best guide to what might be asked is the
homework problems.
Getting Help
I will hold an office hour on Thursday,
December 14, 11-12.
My office is MCS 255.
Tom will hold an office hour on Friday, December 15,
11-12. His office is MCS 258.
Course Grades:
Your course grade will be computed according to the grading scheme that
was given on the syllabus. That scheme already makes an allowance for
one bad exam.
No factors other than your performance on the exams and
your homework
are considered when I compute
your overall course grade.
I try to be especially careful when I compute your grade, but if you
think that I have made a mistake in the computation, then you can
check with me AFTER the holidays. If you would like
to see how you did on the final, come by my office hours next semester.
Good luck during finals and have a pleasant semester break.
