Mac Lab Hours and Rules
Fall 2000
-
The schedule for the Mac Lab (MCS B47) is
Mon-Thu 2-7 p.m., Fri 2-5 p.m., and Sat 1-5 p.m.
You must complete all worksheets during these
hours. Since we anticipate that it will take you between one and
two hours to complete each worksheet, you will not be allowed to start
working on a worksheet within one hour of the lab's closing time for
that day.
-
Make sure that you print a copy of the worksheet from ACS before
you go to the lab. Upon entering the lab, have the lab monitor enter
the "start time" and his/her initials at the appropriate places on the
worksheet. At that point nothing else should be written on the
worksheet. When you have completed your worksheet, submit it to the
lab monitor. He/she will record your "end time" and collect the
worksheet. Doug will return the worksheets after he has reviewed them.
-
You have access to the lab only to do your MA 226 course-related
work. In addition to IDE, the computers in this lab have MATLAB along
with some of Professor John
Polking's .m files and Differential Systems. Differential
Systems is another "solver" that is similar to dfield and pplane.
-
The lab monitors are not teaching assistants for this course,
and they are not obligated to help you with your worksheets. However,
if you ask nicely, they might be able to help you with something
minor regarding the equipment or software by answering a quick question.
-
The lab work that you submit must be your own. However, you
can discuss the operation of IDE and the mathematics involved in the
worksheets with anyone else in the lab while you are completing your
worksheet.
