Notes for A2PMT talk on 4/27/01
Teaching with Technology
Paul Blanchard
- Technology related to differential equations:
-
Interactive Differential Equations: Over 90 software demos
written by Hu Hohn and his coauthors. Go to the
Addison-Wesley web site and search for
Interactive Differential Equations.
-
John Polking's dfield and pplane:
Both MATLAB and java versions.
The java versions can be used directly on the web for free, although I
prefer the MATLAB versions. Dfield is probably more relevant to the AP
curriculum.
-
Multivariate calculus:
I illustrated the use of
Martin Kraus's Live java applet to control 3D Mathematica graphics
in real time. I also showed a number of
Quicktime animations.
You can see all of my multivariate animations and demos by going to
the classroom demos section of my
MA 225 course web page.
I've also collected the ones that I used in my
talk on a separate web page.
-
Calculus on the web:
Here is a web page that
lists some calculus sources on the web. During the talk I
didn't have time to mention the site in France (WIMS), but it
contains some nice materials.
Please let me ( paul@bu.edu )
know if I've left something out. I enjoyed talking with you. My only
regret is not being able to indulge more fully in the food and drink.
