Models of Residues of Eisenstein Series and Some Applications

In this talk, I discuss some recent work joint with Ginzburg and Rallis on investigation of periods (or models) of certain residual representations of Eisenstein series. It turns out to have relations to nonvanishing of the central values of relevant automorphic L-functions and certain Langlands functorial liftings.
