Abstract

A complex K3 surface is called singular if it has the maximal Picard number 20. Singular K3 surfaces behave in many ways like elliptic curves with complex multiplication. After reviewing the classical theory we will sketch new results in this direction. Particular concern will be paid to fields of definition.
