Conference Map

The Boston University web site has a detailed map of the entire Charles River campus. However, for this conference, we have produced an annotated version in three formats:

  1. pdf version (700 K)
  2. png version (150 K)
  3. gif version (100 K)

Buildings

Photonics Center (8 St. Mary’s St and 22 Babbit St): Most of the conference will take place on the second floor of the Photonics Center. The Photonics Center is a 9-story building that is bordered on the south by the Mass Pike, on the west by St. Mary’s St, and on the north by Babbit St. If you enter the building from St. Mary’s St, you are on the second floor. Either hallway takes you to the conference. Babbit St is basically an alleyway. If you exit the Warren Towers garage on the back side (south side) and head west, you will bump into Babbit St. If you enter the Photonics building from Babbit St, the conference will be immediately up the stairs on the second floor.

111 Cummington St: The Project NExT lunch and session and the Executive Committee meeting will be in 111 Cummington St. This building is directly behind Warren Towers, i.e., it borders Warren Towers on the south. If you enter the building at the Office of Information Technology, you are stuck. Go back outside and try another entrance closer to Kenmore Square (toward the east). The official entrance to the Department of Mathematics and Statistics has a sign that says Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. (Computer Science split from the Math Department in 1983 before we moved to this building.)

George Sherman Union: The reception and buffet dinner on Friday evening will be held in the George Sherman Union (GSU). The GSU is further “up” Comm Ave (west) on the north side of Comm Ave. Its address is 775 Comm Ave. The dinner will be on the fifth floor in the Faculty/Staff dining room. After dinner, the Battles Lecture will be held on the second floor of GSU.

Student Village (10 Buick St): Those of you who have made arrangements to stay overnight on campus will reside in the Student Village. It is about 4/10 of a mile west on Comm Ave. There is a web page with additional information for those who are staying at the Student Village.
