The Student
Village
On campus housing is at the Student Village (10 Buick St). The Student Village is an apartment-style residence.
Each apartment has four single-occupancy bedrooms, two bathrooms, a small
kitchen and a living room. Beds are made prior to arrival, and guests are
supplied with bath linens and basic amenities such as soap and shampoo. There
is an alarm clock in each bedroom, but televisions and telephones are not
provided. The Student
Village is .5 miles from
the meeting lecture halls.
Unfortunately, check-in time begins at 3:00 pm which
is also the time of our first invited lecture, so you may not end up checking
in until after the Battles Lecture. You must check out prior to 11:00 am.
When you check in, you will receive a room key and an
ID card. Please make sure that you return both when you check out. There is a
$100 fee for a lost key and a $25 fee for a lost ID card.
The 10
Buick Street Market and Café, located on the
ground floor, is both a café and a convenience store. The café offers bagels,
soups, salads and sandwiches that can be enjoyed in the adjacent dining area or
purchased for take-out.
There is a Starbucks across Comm Ave from
the Student Village one-half block down the hill toward
the lecture halls. Expresso Royale
is another coffee house on Comm Ave near the lecture
halls.
We regret that the overnight parking for the
conference is at 766 Comm Ave
(see the
parking
directions). After the Battles Lecture, we will organize some car pools to get
everyone parked in the appropriate lot and dropped off at the Student Village.
There are 20 participants who are staying at the Student Village. You may want to make
arrangements with one another regarding some sort of car pool in the morning.
The trolley is free in the outbound direction if you
board above ground. The fare is $1.25 in the inbound direction.
