Parking
Boston University has strict parking
regulations. Do not park in university parking lots unless you have a parking
pass.
Parking for Friday, June 2: Parking in the Warren Towers
garage (Lot K) will be available for those who have preregistered.
When you enter the garage, you will be issued a “guest pass” by the attendant.
You should display this pass on the dashboard of your car for your entire visit
to Boston University. It is particularly important
that you do not lose this pass because it is also valid for Saturday. The
Warren Towers
garage is part of the Warren
Towers complex at 700 Commonwealth Ave.
However, you enter the garage via Hinsdale St.
(If you ask directions, no one will know where Hinsdale St is.) Traveling east on Comm Ave, pass the entrance to 700 Comm
Ave and take an immediate right at the end of the block. (You turn right immediately
after the Taco Bell at the corner of Comm Ave and Hinsdale St.) The
entrance to the garage is immediately on your right.
There is no overnight
parking in the Warren
Towers garage. If you
leave your car there after 10:30 p.m., it will be towed.
If you have not preregistered for the conference, park at a meter on Cummington St. You will be given a parking pass for Warren Towers
when you register at the registration desk.
Overnight Parking on Friday, June 2: Those participants who are
staying on campus on Friday night have special permission to park overnight in
the lot at 766 Comm
Ave (Lot R) as long as their guest passes are
displayed on the dashboards of their cars. See below for directions.
Parking on Saturday, June 3: We have permission to use the lot at 766 Comm Ave
(Lot R) on Saturday, but each car must have a guest pass on the dashboard. If
you received a guest pass the previous day, use that pass. If not, you will
need to pick up a pass at the registration desk. We regret that you will have
to return to your car to put the pass on your dashboard, but at least the lot
is not far from the lecture hall in the Photonics building.
Identifying the lot at 766 Comm Ave
is difficult. As you travel east on Comm Ave, you cross the Mass
Pike where the BU Bridge intersects Comm Ave.
There is a street sign that points to the right for
Route 2 west to Cambridge and Arlington. (Don't
go that way. Stay on Comm Ave.)
The lot is
immediately on your right. If you miss it, you will pass the Guitar Center
(look for Ringo in the window), a CVS, and a Radio
Shack. Your best bet is to turn right onto St. Mary’s St immediately after
Radio Shack and go around the “block” again. If you miss the right on St. Mary’s
St, you will have to do a U-turn somewhere on Comm Ave
(crossing the trolley tracks). You’ll head west on Comm Ave passing
the BU Bridge again. Eventually you will be able to do another U-turn on Comm Ave,
and you will get another chance to drive by the lot. We will place an MAA sign
at the lot, but it will still be easy to miss.
On-street parking: If you park on the street at a meter, make
sure that you feed the meter appropriately. If you park at a meter that is “out
of order,” there is a good chance that the City of Boston will fix the meter and give you a
ticket all at once.
