Images of India - Diwali

(Click on an image for a larger view.)

Diwali, short for Deepawali, literally translates as 'lamp festival,' but is more commonly know as 'the festival of lights' in the west. A major part of Diwali involves the setting off of fireworks, or 'bursting crackers' as it is said in India. We set off numerous firecrackers (of the large and larger variety), flowerpots, spinners, and a few bottle rockets. It's difficult to capture firecrackers on film, but I did manage to capture one flowerpot.
