Images of India - Rajiv Gandhi National Park

(Click on an image for a larger view.)

Rajiv Gandhi National Park, located in the state of Karnataka, makes up part of a national wildlife preserve. We visited overnight one weekend, and lodged at Kabani River Lodge, which is a collection of small 'tents' (resting on permanent platforms, and with bathrooms!) and cottages. We stayed in the tents, and they were quite spacious and comfortable. Definitely much better run and maintained than other places we had seen.

A giant termite mound. This is as tall as I am, and I'm 6'2".
Looking at our tents.
Taking a ride through the jungle.
Some spotted deer.
A bison (I think).
A pond which the animals would visit for water. Unfortunately, we visited during the wet season, and so water was plentiful in the back country, and many animals did not venture out into the open.
Trees everywhere. Well it is the jungle, after all.
A wild dog we at first mistook for a fox.
A bull.
Probably the most beautiful sunset I've ever seen, or at least photographed.
