Upward Bound

The Upward Bound program takes high school students with college potential and puts them through a six week summer course where they can be exposed to material they might run into in the Fall. It's a great deal of fun, both for the students and especially the teachers; in fact, it's been my favorite job so far; I regret that I will be committed during the summer of 1996.

I was the math and science instructor during the summer of 1995. This meant that I taught calculus, physics, chemistry, and physical science (whew). Part of what made the job fun was that it was a challenge (I had never taught high school kids before) and an opportunity to use my background to its fullest extent. I worked with great students and other teachers, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It reminded me a great deal of my job at LARC, which was as much fun.
