  Title:
A Brief Introduction to Motivic Measure

Speaker:

          Eleanor Farrington (Boston University)
Abstract: In this talk we will look at the basic ideas of arithmetic motivic measure: how it relates to more classical measures and what's so motivic about it. We will develop a motivic counting measure for pseudo-finite fields and then build a motivic measure for locally compact fields. This talk is based on "What is Motivic Measure" by Thomas Hales.
