| Abstract: |
In the middle of the
last century Leopoldt established various p-adic
analogues of the classical complex analytic class number formulas, in
which the role of the complex L-function is played by
a certain new object, introduced by Leopoldt and Kubota, and called
p-adic L-function. This talk will be mostly a review of the second and fourth chapter of Lang’s Cyclotomic Fields using the shuffle-stuffle method, starting with the statement of the Leopoldt formula and then shedding some light into the quantities involved. |
