Frequently Asked Questions
Question:
Do you grade the quizzes?
Answer:
No. Each math class has a grader, who grades the
homeworks, the quizzes, and other weekly assignments for
the class.
Typically this is a undergrad student, who has
completed the same class in a previous semester.
I will grade the Midterms and the Final, together with
the professor.
Question:
Can I become a grader?
Answer:
Yes. You have to get an A in a math class, then apply for a
grader position. Ask in the Math Main Office for details.
It is a paid job, but not a well-paid one. Though it might
be a nice experience and one more line in your CV.
Question:
On midterms and quizzes often I get the answer of the problem,
but don't get the full credit. What should I do to improve
my solutions? Answer:
You should show all the necessary work, together with
the justification of each steps, especially names of
theorems or techniques you are using. Your work should
be neat and well organized. Here are two pdf files
that contains solutions of two Midterm problems by students
who have learned how to do it:
file 1 and file 2.
