How to Access Mathematica

To use Mathematica you must login to the machine named severi. This machine is dedicated to compute-intensive programs like Mathematica. To connect to severi from an ASCII terminal, use the telnet or rlogin command from your math prompt.
math [joe]% telnet math
If you are using one of the Math Department's workstations, use the right mouse button to open a new severi window. Your account, password, and home directory are the same on all workstations in the Math department. The graphics console for severi is located in the graphics lab (room 263). Mathematica's graphics uses the X Window System. To run Mathematica on severi, type the command math. You will receive an introduction and prompt that looks similar to this:
severi [joe]% math
