Course Overview

This course covers the basic concepts of systems of linear equations and their solutions. The first half of the course will emphasize calculational techniques and applications. The second half is more conceptual and covers the concept of linear transformation. We will go through Chapters 1-5 of the textbook.

Exams and grading scheme

There will be two midterms and a final. At the beginning of each discussion section there will be a short quiz. The midterms count for 20% each, the final counts for 20%, the quizzes count for 10%, and the homework counts for 30%. The dates of the midterms will be Thursday, October 18 and Thursday, November 29.

Grades

In case of emergencies, you can miss one homework assignment and one quiz without a penalty. If you don't miss any assignments or quizzes, I will drop the lowest one from your average. Late homework will not be accepted.
