~=12 The World-Wide Web, simply referred to as
``the Web" and abbreviated WWW or W3, is, as of this writing,
the latest attraction to the Internet. Simply put, the WWW is a
source of global information made available for people all over
the world to browse. It is referred to as a ``web" of information
because of its ability to link documents together. To browse the
Web requires no computer expertise. All you need to get you started
is some software that lets you browse the information, and the
URL for a document that you want to browse. This section is
dedicated to familiarizing you with the WWW jargon, describing the
software that the Math department uses for browsing, and walking
you through weaving a web of your own!
