Images of India - Palace on Wheels
Perhaps the highlight of our trip, the Palace on Wheels
is an eight day, seven night train journey through Rajasthan, with a stop in Agra.
The trip was quite expensive, even by US standards, and is clearly directed toward
the foreign (and NRI) market. Despite the cost, it was quite a nice way to travel.
It would have been a lot more work to arrange cars and hotels separately.
The train itself was wonderful. Accomodations consist of individual staterooms
with attached baths. There are two separate dining cars and a lounge car with
bar.
