Fun Problems

Here are some fun problem sets I've written for various iterations of MA 341 in the spirit of using guided questions to explore and learn in the style of Ross / PROMYS. They are mostly number theory related with varying levels of background knowledge expected.

Axioms - exploring an axiomatic characterization of the integers.
Recurrence - about a famous sequence in number theory.
Convolution - an operation on arithmetic functions, and its relation to L-functions.
Factoring - an algorithm for factoring numbers.
Gauss Sums - a proof of Quadratic Reciprocity using roots of unity.
p-adic Numbers - on lifting solutions of congruence equations modulo higher powers of a prime.
