Introduction to Analysis I


MA511 (Real analysis) is a proof-based course where we carefully study the detailed underpinnings of calculus. Key topics include the least upper bound axiom, metric spaces, compactness, connectedness, Cauchy sequences, completeness, continuity, differentiation and integration. Students will be expected to learn throughout the semester how to both read and write mathematical proofs as they learn real analysis.

Exams
There will be one "large quiz" (given before the "drop without W deadline"), one midterm and a final.
Large quiz: Monday, October 1 in class (30 mins)
Midterm: Friday, October 26 in class
Final exam: Thursday, December 20 in TBA, 12:30-2:30
